    Hello,

I bought this bracelet as being "silver plated" - last picture shows the bracelet tested with Niton Analyzer tester.. would that mean it is a low grade sterling or just plated ? And any ideas about its age ? It is pretty heavy (~60 grams), but for a small wrist.. Thank you ! :)

I sold a fish knife set for scrap, unmarked, that also tested 56% silver. For what thats worth.

Plated? No, that's not what Holly's post is saying. Solid silver (even sterling) is an alloy of silver and other metals - usually the ones listed in the analysis above. The numbers indicate that the alloy of which your item is made consists of 56% silver.

Why would you think it is plated? It is 56% silver,if it were plated the number would be .0001% silver.

Sorry, everybody.. I don't know why I assumed that anything under 92.5 would not be actual sterling.. come to think, I know that there is 800 silver jewelry, but today wasn't a good day for my brain, apparently.. :shame::shame:

Sterling has to be 925, any silver of a value lower than 925 is not sterling, but it is still silver :)

So sterling silver is only 925.. the rest is silver.. thank you for your explanation, that makes a lot of sense !

That is because 925 means 92.5% silver, the other 7.5% is other metals.
