Firstly I want to apologize to members for the many questions, I have accquired lots of junk/merchandise during the past 40 yrs, only thing I know anything about is old dolls,/pottery .I was born in Ireland and my husband was from Ohio, He had Native American heritage, so when our daughter was born I felt it important to make her aware of both , so therefore I picked up anything that looked faintly Native American, most of which has been packed away, Turned out the only thing she was interested in was the little beaded fetishes, (just a little history) and now am trying to ready house for sale so am unpacking lots of boxes, probably more info than you all need but feel it important to let you all know why I only post questions, so is this anything

It's a lid for a grain or water basket from Africa.
There are many on ebay and on any given day they are listed from $20 to $350, depending on what the seller describes them as..........:jawdrop:

I wouldn't rely on eBay listings to identify Native American Indian baskets. Just the other day, out of the first 15 items under Newly Listed in the 1935-Now category, 12 were misidentified...they were not even Native American!

That may be a "record" but it's not unusual to see at least half of the new listings misidentified. Most sellers revise their listings when notified, so if you sort by "Ending Soon," the results may be better.

So yes, please post your photos here, first, especially if there's any question at all about what they may be.

    Yes for sure.
But we've got several people here who know quite a bit about native items; Taupou knows an amazing amount about baskets and textiles and other stuff; Komokwa is an expert on NW Coast native wood items, and other stuff....and I know a fair amount about NW wood and some other stuff also.
Among other folks who I forgot to mention....
    So welcome!
and I'm sure you'll have fun here.
