Couldn't walk away from these

 

Found this nice Navajo bracelet for pretty cheap yesterday. The guy at the antique mall said, 'Wow, great price. I wish I had seen this.' I said, 'I'll sell it to ya.' He laughed.

The signature is Wilson Begay. The old basket was $10, which I consider a very good deal.

My town and the next town west are having a special trash collection for bigger items. Happens every other year. Spent many hours driving and it's not halfway done.
In 2020 when everything was shut down I did it in Bloomington to the south. Best things I found for resale was old clocks. Got a lot of last years fertilizer and had greenest lawn ever for two years.

Two years ago found a Sioux war club!

Been slow for good stuff for resale this year.

Found a pendulum wall clock that was a retirement gift.

46 years at one place. Those were the days. This model seems to sell for $180 on feebay. Got it test running now.

Used to see Leef Bros vans all over back in the day. Bought out in 2007.

 

By the time my dad retired in the 90s, 20 years was a good trick. He was an engineer, and your term of employment often only lasted as long as a project did. These days folks have to job hop to keep up with inflation.

My BFF is a pharmacist at the student health center at the University of South Carolina. Last week there was a department-wide gathering led by their new director & a guest speaker. At one point the speaker asked who in the room had been there for 20 years. She was the only one out of the 80 or so people to raise her hand.

She has actually been there 35 years but is hoping to retire sometime this year.

 

Once upon a time, longevity and loyalty paid off. Now it's generally a sucker bet unless you own the business or a chunk thereof.

 

After the eclipse , I dropped in at my charity thrift..... fer fun...

I found a couple of well framed prints , and even though they shouted decorator art , I gave up $15 a piece. They'll do well in a yard sale.......

but I didn't buy them until I stumbled upon a little gem that I grabbed as fast as I saw it .
