@Any Jewelry and @Debora - on the Dior thing, I bought some NOs pieces a while back from someone who supplied Selfridges in the 80s and 90s. Some are marked Dior, some Grosse, with identical clasps and setting styles. The couple who sold me them had dealt with Grosse, and told me the story of how that company had made for Dior under licence.

There's a bit on their website about it: http://www.grosse.hk/en/history.php

Thank you. A company I knew nothing about previously.

We have the same with many US companies, unknown to us, but big in the US.;) Grossé is a pretty big name here in Europe.

The lock bracelet could very well be low grade gold. I'm always suspicious when I see soldered links like those I see in the pics. Inspect the wear points of the links for layering. Should be tested at those wear points. The cross is also interesting. Could it be bog oak?

its a solid something though for sure, but not ruling out brass

after reading obbs thread on pinchbeck, do you think its possible that thats what this bracelet is ?

from reading up on it, would have to be pre 1840s, is that a possibility ?

dont think its gold, and brass seems a strange option for this type

i found a similar looking chain type on ebay stated as pinchbeck (but they could be wrong of course;))

Not pinchbeck I’d say. Probably brass or gold plated brass. Give it a sniff.
