Thank God, I don't live near there. I’d have to claim bankruptcy the next day. Bankruptcy with a smile. :)

When we got there, you couldn't walk but through the small path that wound throughout the little house. Boxes and stacks of stuff and tubs - millions of plastic tubs packed full. The end product was us unboxing and cleaning and staging to make it look a bit more organized. Space was limited so we had to do gallery walls.

Well, if there are Portuguese in the Netherlands, why not have Portuguese cockerels in Disney World!:playful::kiss:

Or greedy-guts types like me helping out by buying boxes and bales?:p Or hopefully a mix. I predict the jewelry gets hit hard and fast.

I've been to estate sales where they limited the number of people who can come in at a time. It's not unusual for large sales.

"Unless held in a massive mansion, estate sales may be limited to a certain amount of individuals at a time to avoid overcrowding, and there also may be a sign-up sheet at the entry, or by issuing numbers to people and calling these numbers in small groups"

If you Google estate sale etiquette, you'll find suggestions like this.

I'm used to lining up here and getting numbers. It's standard. That way they can limit the number coming into the house.

Yes we are only allowing in 20 people to start and once they disperse, we will allow a few more in - we call it 'staggered admission'. We don't do lists but the people in line sure do and it can cause a major problem. Hubby is going to be security as he is 6'4 and 280 pounds. The sweetest man in the world but he can crack an acorn with his thumb and finger :D

I am just seeing this. Incredible sale and very nicely organized and displayed. I can not even imagine having to price all this so that it will sell in a single weekend. What kind of pricing strategy did you use? So..... How did it go? Any idea of what percentage sold before the half price sale?

My brain is fried. We are exhausted! The sale went well. We had too much stuff for the furniture to sell - which is ok. We donated it after wards. On Thursday, the line started at 5:30 with 58 people and the second person in line was waiting for the Fenton Burmese floral lamp. I had it priced to move at $450. We still a line at 1 pm but things were much more manageable the next 3 days. We finished with clean out yesterday and go to our next house today. UGH!

Still had a line at 1PM...wheeee. No wonder you're whipped. I was at one sale this Winter where the "line" was 10 of us, and there was nothing to bother buying. A lot of people scored at yours!

I have never helped to stage a house for an estate sale but I have helped go through stuff to set up for an on-site estate auction & I know the sale has to be much worse. At least with an auction most of the stuff is taken out of the house to sell rather than people piling in all trying to grab the same thing.:happy:

Glad to hear the sale went well!! :D
