BTW I did 20 boxes 2 came out well and 18 are all blurred and look terrible.

Some of the woodworking undertaken in India between 1500-1900 is just breath-taking and unbelievable. I'm a woodworker myself (not a woodcarver) and I know how hard this must have been, today nobody produces work like this, not even close. It took months and months of a very skilled person to produce these works, just imagine how much they would cost today.

I'm mostly a crafter, but I wouldn't want even PAINT that design never mind carve it. The box should be worth thousands. I'd bet you got it for cheap because no one pays what handwork ought to be worth.

I think I paid between £40-£60 for the Vizagapatam box many years ago and the Nagina (ebony) box I paid around £90 a few years later, these days both are quite sort after, the Vizagapatam box might be by a very good maker but the condition is bad so I don't really know what it would fetch but today they are well recognised as works of art and growing in price. Maybe £500-£700 each but if the Vizagapatam box was in top condition you could easily add a zero to that figure.

IOW beginning to be worth what it should have been worth all along. Too bad for you that someone caught on.
