I bought this over the weekend. It was advertised as 'Ashworths'. I wasn't sure if the description was correct. I was thinking of maybe Masons? After a bit of time looking at it at home I'm starting to think that maybe it's a Chinese copy? For one it is very clean and new looking. Including the foot rim. Two, the mark on the back is quite large (4.5cm). I once read somewhere that you should treat large backstamps with suspicion. Finally, it rings pure and true..if it was ironstone, wouldn't it make more of a clunk.

    Thoughts please?

It’s definitely English . My immediate response is Ridgeway but I need to look it up,

Okay thanks. There seems to be a lot of incorrect references online.
