ANTIQUE(?) MINIATURE PAINTING OF 2 DOGS BY HAU? HALL?

Found this at my local thrift store today. One thing for sure is the framer is high end - googling Carvers & Gilders & shows they did work on the Queen's house among others; which makes me hopeful for the painting!

It is a small painting on wood or Masonite(?) & looks like it was pencil signed HAU or HALL. I found a HAU from mid to late 1800's who painted dogs. And the fact that the art is held in place with forged nails makes me hope it could be him (or it could be a nice touch added by framer).
There also appears to be a signature in the paint just above the pencil signature.
Can anyone tell me what I have & who did it? Did I find another john Emms style painting like one I found & posted here a few months ago?!

Summary: not old and probably a copy of a famous piece.

 

Oh sorry, that is definitely a modern-printing-technology label.

I found a John Emms at same thrift store a few months back - sold it for $2,500!
I know label is modern; they framed it - I just hope they don't work with copies.

I will add to this thread the same paragraph I said about the last:

"Whenever I see those large, bulky, new looking frames made to look antique, I rarely bother to even look at the painting inside anymore. It's become obvious to me that these are copies. It is more difficult to perceive without the frames."

 

Though I will add -- the articles are talking about doctored prints and I'm not saying that's what you have (no idea), from what we saw last go around, the pieces were actual paintings, but everything else was in line with the 1998 fakes.

If copies or such it's still ok - my girlfriend doesn't say I'm so tight I squeak when I walk for nothing(!) - I only paid $12.95 or there about so I won't lose anything on it. I'm sure it will sell at my next yard/estate sale with little problem.

If I recall correctly, we even saw this same mistake in the last round.

 

I would lay odds that the bulk of the frame (heavily "carved" portion) is molded...

 

Chinese copy, saw tons of these in the 90's! Chickens and sailing ships were very popular subjects too! All with phony "antiqued" brass-gilt frames and labels like this.

 

The "signature" looks like the signer couldn't remember how to spell his/her name - and signed in either ball point pen or #2 pencil.

I was going to comment on that if no one else did. At least the label on the pic of the Arabs says 'regilt'. A Victorian would not have come up with 'reguilted'. Maybe a Freudian framer.

 

Just looking at the dogs eye is a red flag.
