komokwa The Truth is out there...!

    I'm sure it is......

although the tits and the left arm are a little funky......the rest is very nice... imo

She's a sight better than a 1950s pretty lady or a 1960s Pony Tail Girl. I have observed before that cutters tend to be good with faces but not with hair or good with hair but not with faces. This guy was the latter. He did a lovely, careful job with the curls, the diadem & the veil. The face is adequate but flat & stiff. He stumbled on the perspective of the chestal area. This one (not mine) is not perfect either, but shows a more lifelike face:

When I first realized that I wasn't just buying a few pretty cameos, that I was starting a collection, my focus was on acquiring examples of as many different subject as I could. I still do not have one like yours, so I would have grabbed this one if the price had been right.

Of the Hera/Junos I do have, I especially like this one:

is the hera/junos as 3D as she appears ?, if you cropped out the frame, you would think it was a bust

Yes, she really pops out. She was cut using the horn of the shell, one of those bumps around the top, so she's quite concave on the back.

think it looks like shell but not 100% as the white is very white. would it be juno again ?

Mount may not be gold, but it is unusual. Have not seen it before. Metal could be 'pinchbeck', a formulation of brass that looks more like gold than the usual recipes.

thanks bronwen, might be worth giving it a sunshine cloth polish on the setting just to pretty it up

would it be late 19th century ?

Yes, I would say so. Looks like it may have had the findings on the back rejiggered.

JMHO, both are lovely despite the damage. I would have picked them up for those low prices just to rescue them :)
