    1960s/1970s souvenir from Spain. It's not a true one but it could be described as a "tantalus." Here's another leather + wood box of similar work.

    In a real tantalus the flasks can be seen, but not opened, so the servants couldn't get at it. It is named after Tantalus of Greek myth, whose torture was that he could see food and water, but it was always beyond his reach.
