I looked through the catalogs, too. It looks like they were only put online last year.

This is from the cover of the second catalogue from 1915 and has the waning crescent mark on the cover. The shield shape is different, though.

Thanks for going through the catalogs!

Stop buying all the good stuff at the Feira da Ladra!! Leave something for me to find during my summer vacation!! :D

You can have anything that doesn’t fit in my pockets. I have no space for anything bigger than that. :-(

There’s a pretty big market also on the Avenida Liberdade that’s only there of a couple of weekends a month in the summer. And a less visited one on the other side of the bridge in Caparica every Sunday.

Both much better than Madrid's Rastro.

Those were the days my friend…:) before my husband and I agreed that if anything that size followed me home from a flea market, something else needed to go.
Which is why I’m now researching period jewelry…

Haven’t been there. The good thing about the Avenida and Caparica ones is that there isn’t that much of totally new stuff— or tourists— like there often are at the Feira.

The trick to the Rastro is to get off the main strip that the tourists follow.

Same agreement here. Not easy to stick to the agreement. Overall I think I manage to follow that rule for 50%.
I never stick to the 2nd 50% of the agreement... :D

Reply from the Museo de Cerámica Ruiz de Luna, posted as requested.

Por las marcas podría ser anterior a 1945 pero como usted ha dicho no se encuentra en los catálogos, es una tipología que mezcla distintas morfologías.

    Which Google translates as

Based on the brands it could be before 1945 but as you said it is not found in the catalogues, it is a typology that mixes different morphologies.

I.e. they can’t tell when the marks were used either.
But they replied really fast! :)

I'm impressed. And a bit surprised that they couldn't be more precise re dating.

Having bought from the Portuguese azulejos factories, I’m wondering if they didn’t make some pieces simply for local trade in Talavera. Or maybe they tried out some designs that didn’t end up in the catalogs. I find the same shape jarron in the second catalog but with different animals. I rather like the fact it isn’t in the catalogs. I can pretend it’s extra special. :)

The factories here also make special order tiles etc based on e.g. your own designs or any old tile/ mural you want to replicate.
