    Hi all!
A friend has been trying to track down the origins of this chess set. He bought it in an antique shop in the Old City of Sana'a in Yemen. The owner of the shop thought it was Omani in origin but wasn't sure. Does anyone here have an idea where this style comes from? I'm not sure what type of stone it's made of but looks to be some kind of marble. Any ideas? Chess (4).jpg Chess (1).jpg Chess (5).jpg Chess (2).jpg

Yes, it is a nice set. The colour of the stone and the style of carving does look Indian.
The Middle East has been an important trade partner of India for thousands of years.

That box is typical of Indian items, too.
