So long as it's a real pencil signature and not just part of the print.

The Seidel looks like a pictorialist photo to me - lots of mood. Pictorialism was out of favor for a very long time, but I have read that there has been something of a resurgence. I'm finding no references online to Seidel as a pictorialist.

I've heard it said that people generally sign in pencil because it has a unique look. It's supposed to be easier to tell a real pencil signature from a reproduction than it is to differentiate a signature in ink. And it's unlikely that some would be signed in pencil and others in ink.

Sorry I got lost in the fog. Be nice if it's the real thing. Bizarre to think that a print from 1980 is that valuable. Possibly because there is limited access to the original negatives?

it is quite a fun image, never noticed the hands aspect to it before

i just saw it as a photograph of picasso and thought it woudnt have that much interest

    and it was £50 !

I guess it all boils down to if it is a print taken from an original negative and not a secondary image? Time to read up on identifying silver prints and polish your best loupe.

no it was unsigned, with the title and and artists name super imposed on the actual print (part of the print)

might still have been worth a little but, but not hold on to your trousers money

might have been from a gallery poster etc i reckon ;)
