i get a 70s feel about it for some reason, it has to have a bit of age for the brass to have darkened

I like it because of the decoration. I long ago got over Asian cloisonne, mainly because its a mine field !

yeah its a hard type to judge mate because of the brass, would be easier to tell with pottery or porcelain

theres a slight recess in the middle which would account for the colour difference

It is a lovely little Japanese vase, probably late 19th century/Meiji era. The sparkle effect is called goldstone (kinseki/chakin-seki). Nice find!

Agree, these are generally dated around 1900 and appear to have faded out by WW1.

Nice find that. Pretty little thing. I would have never guessed that old because it looks to be in such good condition.

that sounds like a plan !
I've got a 7 3/4 foot totem pole ...in the next room....
    once shipped from Vancouver.......
    I can't handle it myself...and shipping now.......would be a pig ...and cost a left nut !

If it were $25,000..... maybe.....but it's not that grand ....;)

Because of time zones, I'm always late to the party. I would've guessed turn of the 20th c, but it's moot now, LOL! I like it!
