    We just saw this 4 Drawer Dresser.Hand-cut dovetails,looks to be oak base w/ thick (mahogany/maple ?) veneer,square nails,rough saw back.Assuming it's still there,is it worth $40.
I'm not a furniture dealer, but might find a way to fit it into out lil' house-darn purdy.
    * Calling all furniture experts- @verybrad Thanks All !

Just try and buy the wood for that. The veneer looks to be in good shape. At $40 it's hard to miss. Rub some paste wax on the drawer runners and off she goes.

    Thanks for the FB Evely.
It looks IMHO to be American Empire 1840's-1860's,but (assuming it's still there)-I've got to rent a truck & put it somewhere in our 1400 sq ft house or stacked to the rafters garage.
I do love that 'book-matched' veneer & it really is in good shape (esp the veneer !).
PS-But we all know how depressed the brown furniture market is.

    Thanks @Bronwen!

I’d say early Renaissance Revival ca. 1860s-70s, but rather astylar so not a lot of stylistic clues. The book-matched flame mahogany veneer is attractive but suffers from an odd refinishing job. Nevertheless, a crazy bargain at that price!

Thanks Ghopper-I wonder what it might take to clean up that veneer refinish.Even though I definitely don't need another piece of furniture,I have respect for historic furniture & 40 bucks seems nutty cheap ! The fact that the veneer isn't shot's a positive.

As I may have mentioned previously...C'MON, Bosko, throw a few bucks around, support the economy, give your lady something to ponder as you stagger through yer dotage! You'll find room for it, an' it'll have room in it for more stuff! Just think how good you're gonna feel inna morning...like in the old days!
No, no...don't thank me...go GET it!

If it were me, I'd strip it, then redo it in a more historically accurate mahogany finish. There are many examples online for you to peruse Yep, that's a lot of work, but that's what I would do. Your preferences may vary.
