Civil War portrait painting on metal

    Lady I bought this from said it is civil war era, from New Hampshire or Maine area. Looks like it's painted on tin. Anyone see these paintings before? Is it something they did during Civil War? Looks like Ulysses Grant. Anyone can identify him?

    I don't see a military uniform on him.

    And if you look at all the photos of Grant available on the web, you may agree with me that this person does not look like him.

    Not even close. Cute, but no General. He's the right age to have been in the War though.
