Look what arrived in a package today!
I found these beauties online for a steal and I just payed for them as fast as I could, because, well...they are amazing!
They were listed as 'fifties earrings' but we all know these are the real deal, right you guys!
These are probably Portugese, and from around 1760-1770. They are silver and I believe the white stones are maybe topaz?
My gem tester says they are harder than glass so no paste.
The stones are set on foil anyway, which was custom these days.
Just look at them, these earrings are huge!
I m not sure they will be easy to wear.
One of the closings is lost so I will have to get them repaired anyhow.
    Its no big deal though.
    I hope you enjoy them

Yay!!!:singing::woot: Great find, Dessert, and I'm glad they arrived safely.
    Of course you did.:greedy::joyful:
Very likely, one of Brazil's top stones. Does your gem tester show a Mohs hardness? Topaz is 8.
You could harvest it from a cheap silver earring. It is a similar shape to a present day leverback, only attached the other way around.

AJ, thank you very much for the idea. I think it must indeed be possible to fix it in a simple way like that.
It must be topaz. My paste jewelry clearly doesn't make my gem tester budge and these earrings do.
Speaking of which: I had another, although smaller and younger treasure arriving today: this paste and silver with gold vermeil back 'sapin de noel' christmas tree/French regional jewelry pendant.
For 3 euros also a steal and it is a perfect pendant for a Christmas Eve child like me

IMG_5316.jpeg IMG_5315.jpeg I havent been able to find much more info about this one though...Regional jewel, French, paste and silver, 19th century probably...If anyone has more ideas about it, please let me know.
Not sure if it really depicts a Christmas tree, but it looks a bit like one and thats good enough for me. :D

We do not see jewelry like that here in the USA, at all. I doubt any dealer here would know what they are...the better for those of us paying attention!
