Some stuff from today. The little green glass dish is from an estate sale. No marks, no huge age, but it was bright stinkin' green. I doubt it glows. The back is sort of pebbled. On the way home I stopped in the ReStore and lightning struck again. They have a little case with a "please ask for help" sign, so I asked. Bought two little jewelry boxes of what I'm sure are Swarovski miniatures. No marks, but they're BITTY. $7.50 the lot. My favorite has to be Humpty Dumpty from before he did the Humpty Dance right off of that wall. My previous lightning strike from Thursday was Alphonse the Poncey dog (he has to have a name, right? ). He's vintage Royal Doulton, a smooth fox terrier. They stopped making him in 1960.

That seal with the whiskers is sooo cute! I'm still impressed by the terrier... He's so well made.

Have picked up a bunch of things of late. Will have to split into a few posts. I have this penchant for boxes so will devote this to just boxes. All found the past couple weeks. None of them are very old but the prices were right ;)

This box has an agate slice embedded in the top. $2.00.

This carved pair might be Mexican or maybe points further South? $3.00 for the pair.

Little Chinese jewelry box with red fitted interior. $2.00
    thriftbox6.jpg

Heavy stone (marble?) box from Chile. $5.00

This tile is just signed in marker on the back so likely by an amateur. Made from a comercial mold? Have seen this image of the boy with bird before but can't find it. Maybe from classical antiquity? Anyway, thought it worth the $3.00.

This Peruvian gourd is only 4" diameter. Very intricate carved design for the size. Was $2.00.

This Anchor Hocking Forest Green juice pitcher was $3.00.

Thought this silver bracelet with antique buttons interesting. Will post to jewelry board. Bought for $6.00.

Was surprised find how pricey this Nambe' chrome pig bank is (New price is up to $95.00). Bought for $3.00.

Set of 6 of these cut tumblers for $1.50. Have not been able to identify them.

The Fire King pattern name for your mug is Kimberly. In good condition they sell for decent money. Yours looks like some of the paint is chippy but for a quarter I would have snagged it!

    This Northwood dish was $4.00.
    thriftglass38.jpg

The pot on the left is Nemadji. The pot on the right only had the sticker shown. Think I have run into this sticker one other time. No longer any scent :( $2.00 each.

Love the boxes, and the tile with the boy and the bird. I dont know why,but something made me think of a Roman image ,maybe Pompeii or the like.It does seem very familiar.

Doulton did a nice job on him. He was on the shelf in a back area with a dachshund buddy. I wish I could have nabbed the doxie too, but I think someone else got there first.

The seal definitely appears to be Swarovski but I can't tell about the other pieces. A photo of them upright would help.:happy:

I need better pix, along with a photo of todays ((blink)) nab at an antique/junque center. It's new, behind a store that sells smoking stuff.

The good part of yesterday's estate sale haul. The amethysts are dyed and on brass findings and the florals are old Chinese. The faceted tigerseye have a sterling clasp, sitting next to Lithuanian amber. The citrines are citrine and maybe glass - gotta test yet. Another one that needs testing has the crystal beads...but a marked 10k white gold clasp. It might be quartz. The silver the neckace is silver, and the silver earrings are signed Mexican silver. The necklace in the plastic is 14k and CZ strung on clear nylon. The multi-stone looks like it has Ross-Simons marks, as do the pearls. The pendants are probably Austrian and the loose bead is Murano glass and sterling. Total spend: US$25 the lot.

I wasn't quite sure what it was from the pictures, but I love it when you get more than you paid for!
