Hi, all - The auction went live in the middle of the night. The Milton Caniff piece and the Hal Foster piece are taking off like firecrackers! Here’s a live action shot:

Long way to go with this. Expect the others will get some bids as well. Looks like you are off and running!

Hal Foster Prince Valiant was always going to be the leader here. That one's a gem, even in that condition.

You've made a lot of collectors very happy. And imagine you're not too unhappy yourself.

Wonderful result. Did you have any idea how valuable these were when you first inquired here?

Thanks for asking! I had looked on the internet and seen the prices pieces like my Hal Foster pieces sold for and I had seen $66,000, but then when I submitted the pieces to Heritage Auctions and asked for a valuation - I had 7 pieces altogether, however the two Hal Foster pieces were found to be part of the same comic strip and were placed together - my account manager told me that the Hal Foster piece might be worth $2500 and the total of all the remaining pieces was $1000. He said they were in as bad a condition as it gets. Of course I was really disappointed but I felt that their condition in real life was better than in the photos I submitted. So I was really left with complete uncertainty. I deeply hoped I could realize $65,000 for the whole group but then realized that the condition of the Hal Foster piece was worse than the condition of the pieces that sold in the $66,000 range, so I adjusted my sights to hoping I could realize $33,000. As the bidding proceeded slowly over the 7 days of the auction I found myself just praying I would realize $10,000. I was relieved when I reached that number. In the end, I am very happy with the $24,960 result

    Again, thanks for asking!
