Amazing how some laboridite resembles saphiret.

Well, hubby and me have had a bug this week, haven't been out. Some recent finds. The loose cameo was a bargain, I think, $15.

The cross is Czech or West Germany I guess

A dealer knows I love dragons and saved this heavy stone gargoyle for me! $25.

And....I found a basket of WWII love letters in a local antique mall. I bought all the letters to a woman named Helene. I will post the letters on the general antique discussion board starting tomorrow...I have 17.

It makes me really sad to see old love letters for sale because the family, if there was one, didn't treasure them. Those were a significant moment in history and in the life of a family member.

The main writer was quite the character. You will see his escapades if you read the letters...he reminds me of my favorite uncle. I am treasuring them, and they will go into a binder.

Photographing finds as I put them away. These are only Reed & Barton stainless, but the were 25 cents each.

I thought I had a 25% off coupon, but I must have used it. The thrift charges $1 each for utensils, I bought the 50 pieces they had of Wm. Rogers Exquisite. It appears the set was never used. Now to find another silverware chest.

Thank you. I found the R & B pattern, Ariel. I especially love to find the grille sets in silverplated.

Many years ago maybe late 90’s, I bought a service for 16 with all the servers for my everyday set of Reed & Barton. Unfortunately, some pieces have wandered into the universe. I always check when I go into any type of thrift to see if they have my pattern. Sadly I have never found 1 piece. Have seen some on eBay & Etsy for pieces I have not for what I need. I haven’t given up yet.

What is your pattern? Can you show me? I never thought much of stainless flatware until I researched Reed and Barton's. I can keep a look out!

Found this cup & quatrefoil saucer in a charity shop recently. I'm not sure that they actually belong together as I would have thought they should both be the same shape? They cup does fit the saucer depression perfectly though. The saucer has been repaired with staples but I don't mind that at all. I have several stapled pieces and think it adds to the charm. Someone obviously treasured them enough to have them repaired. 20240201_170452.jpg 20240201_170343.jpg 20240201_170402.jpg 20240201_170445.jpg 20240201_170037.jpg 20240201_170119.jpg 20240201_170210.jpg 20240201_170240.jpg 20240201_170300.jpg 20240201_170332.jpg

Hold each piece up to the light and see if the translucency is the same. The cup looks like Japanese eggshell porcelain while the saucer seems thicker. The mark on the saucer is something imitative, I think, possibly alluding to Tettau, an old German porcelain maker, but I don't know for sure.

Crazy as I am, drove 1-1/2 hours each way to an estate sale! There is nothing good in our area most Winters so I just bit the bullet, I'm glad I did.

Nabbed some goodies... Mixture of McCoy, Roseville, Stangl and others I need to research, probably some Shawnee.

I sold a lot of pottery the last few years and am happy to stock up for the coming Summer season :)

Looks like you came back with the goods! I don't know much about pottery except what I learned on Antiquers, but it's fun to look at.

That white McCoy vase with the ram's head is fairly desirable if I am remembering correctly. I've seen it somewhere, possibly on eBay sold listings.
