ID My Ceramic vase

Hello. I was wondering if anyone could identify this glazed altered pot with mark. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Spot on Gila! While I can sympathise with the Shoji Hamada view that his work should not require a mark to be identified as his, studio pottery is so often difficult to identify even with a photo of the mark (if it exists!)

Yes, more pictures, please! A focused close-up of the mark, too, if you can manage it. It looks very flower-like from the top view. Can't wait to see more shots of this.

 

While it's true that I'm not a pottie....neither of those pics look anything like a vase to me !!

 

Hi Darryl2 - I'm not sure I can be of much help but I'll give you my impressions. Usually when I see a small pot or vase where the top part is glazed but the bottom part is not I think fairly recent Vietnamese or Chinese. As such it would be difficult if not impossible to identify a specific maker. I do see some scratches on the bottom but I'm not sure they are a signature. Again, this JMHO.

I could be wrong on the mark - a close-up photo of that area might help. There are folks on the board much more familiar with Chinese marks than I am.
