It could be 'de Gier', a Dutch name.
There are several Dutch painters named de Gier, but I don't think any of the ones I heard of painted in this style.

Perhaps it is the angle of your photograph, but the proportions seem very weird - like her head and bust are too large for her arms and legs.

I think shes lovely and very well done. The angles are throwing everyone off. Look at the details like the lace, ribbons etc.

Good craftsmanship, seems the camera lens distorted the image.

I would love a picture of her straight on, without distortion. It would also be helpful to see what the back looks like.

Thank you! I like her. She's got a good expression and the tulle frames her nicely.

I'm going to guess that this is a painting from someone still learning. I wonder if she moved during the sketching phase because her nose is pointing to the right, but her jawline to the left. The artist spent time on her face, but wasn't sure what to do with her chest, shoulders, or arms, and completely hid those pesky hands. The waist is about the size of her head. The fabrics are very basic in rendering. The color mixing is fairly basic too.

So it may be difficult to find the artist, or perhaps this was early in their career.

Can we see the back ? I still feel shes very well done. I think the rosiness of her cheeks and the veins on her legs, mussed hair are all due to her just coming off stage. Maybe thats also why shes holding flowers. The way that tulle is painted ,thats no amateur or 2nd tier artist. I love her to bits, cant you tell ?

So interesting. I had never heard of her and... Degas painted her many times.

I think that's very possibly a portrait. If the painting is dated 1887, she would have been 37.

Could be a 19th Century Saloon painting done by a younger artist.
