Featured Cameo, please help!

Good evening,
The cameo below came my way and decided to buy it because the price was good, however I can’t recognise the depiction.the frame is not real gold.
I would like to know more about whom is in the depiction, and how old is it?

I think the underlying image is Cupid & Venus, just done lazily, omitting his wings & whatever object was between them.

Yes, that too. Venus' primary attribute is her nudity, but some cutters like to cover her up.

 

It may be based on this relief by Thorvaldsen, Cupid showing Venus his bee-stung finger. The subject appears on cameos.

I don't know who Thorvaldsen is......but he's now got my attention.....
that relief speaks to me !

We got quite into Thorvaldsen way back in my Intro thread, somewhere around the disappointment that the sculpture of The Little Mermaid isn't bigger.

 

And a little rose bush as well, another way for him to prick his finger. Supposedly Venus met his tears with 'Now you know how it feels to be pierced by one of your arrows!'

 

I was asleep at the wheel.......

Thank you so much for sharing, yes, it looked unfinished to my eye as well…
The carving is quite nice in reality, and the frame…the price was also an incentive to buy it.
I am very grateful for all the information and for educating me.
