Piece in lot: old or wannabe?

I found this in a lot and I'm mostly of the opinion that it's a wannabe oldie (too crude, messy construction?), but the stones' cut/setting do look legit to me. I don't think it was ever original to the plastic rope string chain whatever it's called (you can see it in the photo)

I think vintage. 1970s-90s maybe, hard to tell with the limited photo, but I do not think that it's antique.

 

I can see why you have looked twice. It’s difficult to see how the gems are held in as it’s so fuzzy.
The dangles don’t look old to me as they have that white core that I associate with more modern production. However they could be a later addition like the purple gem at the top. Without a better photo and seeing the back it’s going to be hard to tell. If there were other definitely good pieces in the lot I’d take a punt on it but not if it was the only one.
Disclaimer- I am very much still learning so my comments are definitely not to be relied on and taken with a large pinch of salt! @evelyb30 @Any Jewelry and @Ownedbybear amongst others are the experts!

 

As I took the screen shot I did notice the white core and felt that was a giveaway, but those gems do make you do a second take! There's not all that much in the rest of the lot, and I agree with Lucille. I shall pass, thanks all!
