Sorry, had to sleep for the night......
Figurines are very narrow, no way there would be space for match box, maybe 3 tiny matches...

I have to ask, by blue hair are you just meaning figures of old people or is there actually some blue?

Since the only blue I see in the pics is the man's one blue eye, I assumed Mak meant blue-eyed.

I appologise for the missunderstanding I caused.
English is not my first language.
I foolishly translated word from my languge literarly.
I meant to say "blond" hair.
Why do I think their hair is blond?! It just feels that way. Cannot explain.

Different countries , different ethnicities, different arts and traditions.
I think art speaks all languages.
It is interesting though, that here we see and learn about things we otherwise wouldn't.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I like the Closet's idea about candles and a few matches. I bet any area on wood could be a good strike-spot.
Although I still keep wondering about the folk-art whirligig... if you could anchor them...

"Whirligig"- theres anew word I learned!
I don't know if candles could fit , or stay upright in these slim figurines.

What if they were part of an more complex thematic instalation, comprising of people and buildings, depicting some rural society?

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Ya got me there, Mak!
From what I see on Google, they're crafted world-wide. If only somebody could identify that high collar, or the clothes or baskets. To me, it has a middle-European feel.
