Found that the same painting was for sale on Ebay. Seller is from the same city I live at. I guess he could not sell it and unloaded it at the thrift store. Kardinalisimo, I like it too. Do you have any idea when it was done? Do you think it is a "local" scene? I like the "swampy" area with the half-buried old wagon wheel to the left of the picture and the planked (road/path) area with a pond(?) on the lower right side.
Interesting that the seller didn't try to sell for less. Maybe since it is end of the year, he/she needs the tax write offs? Nice pick up for the thrift store.
Nice painting with a bit of an Andrew Wyeth feel to it. One thing I find distracting in it is that wagon wheel in the foreground ...... less can be more.
That frame is certainly " of its time " ! Id reframe it immediately if I were keeping it. The right frame would make it glow .
