IMG_4759.jpeg IMG_4760.jpeg IMG_4761.jpeg I have some jewellery inherited from my parents who are no longer alive. One of the rings has markings but it looks more like writing than hallmarks. Can anyone help?

it maybe Polish or British based on family history.

It has a patent number, more like a US number than not.

Any chance some soapy water and a toothbrush could clean up that lettering?

Apparently, you have the same ancestry as I do!

Classic Toi et Moi , i.e. two stone, setting. The silver metal around the stones is there to make them seem larger. Old engagement ring? WWI-ish if memory serves. The design has made a comeback recently.

The patent looks like an American design patent. I can't get the USPTO to cough up, but someone else may have better luck.

Agree, a 'toi et moi' ring, toi et moi means you and I in French. Popular as engagement rings in the late 19th early 20th century.

The diamond setting looks to be silver, which would make late 19th century likely. The setting makes me think Georgian Revival influence, although the style of the ring as such was modern at the time.

The cut on the diamonds is an old cut, it could be Old European, but we can't see the outline due to the old style setting. The diamonds could have come from an earlier jewel.
@stracci , what do you think about the cut?:)

I wouldn't be surprised if someone took a really old, worn-out, Georgian ring and had it copied and moved the stones over. Old mine cut stones?

Looks like a single cut with flat culet. https://www.whiteflash.com/blog/single-cut-vs-full-cut-diamonds/#s

Difficult to see, but I think you're right.

The design isn't a copy of a Georgian ring, but the stones and their settings could certainly have come from a Georgian ring.

A very interesting old "toi et moi"! A friendship ring, perhaps?
The stones are so small... @Any Jewelry ..yes I think single cuts.
