Featured Antique necklace, carved beads

Can anyone help me identify this piece? I bought it a while back but found little online of the sort

 

Made in India, probably 70s or 80s. It's aventurine stone beads.

 

The beads are not carved,they are processed in a bead mill.

Maybe I should post better images of the necklace.
Just doesn't feel like a cheap trinket from the late 20th century. Maybe it is, it doesn't feel like it is

Also just read up a little on aventurine which has a particular sparkle due to the inclusions, erm... included within it.
The beads in this case do not sparkle

 

not the same , those are graduated..... and yours are not coral....

 

I know they're not graduated or coral but the way the beads are threaded together is what caught my attention. Not implying it is the same, rather that there is some relation maybe

If you click on the link I shared you'll notice the beads in that piece are not graduated either. I suspect that the coral necklace at the shop was probably late Qing

 

I like your beads, but I'm not an expert on the type of stone. Here's a similar necklace from India made with garnet beads listed on eBay, which agrees with evelyb's opinion that they're made in India, probably 70s or 80s. I don't know if your necklace is older or if it was just worn and handled a lot.


Here's another necklace made with the same type of woven technique, sometimes referred to as "crocheted". I see a lot of flapper or newer flapper-style bead necklaces like this.

Yes, absolutely within that same ballpark.

 

I just saw this thread. Your necklace is definitely Indian, no doubt about it. The bead crochet/weaving technique is known all over the world, but as always the devil is in the detail. The wrapped finials together with the cord as well as the slide bead of the same cord make it traditional Indian.

You may think of Indian jewellery as cheap trinkets, but not everyone would agree. Whether or not you accept its true origin is up to you.
