I picked up this necklace today for 75% off lowest price . Has a good weight and interesting finish, but they don't feel like metal to me. Actual beads are not magnetic. Any ideas?

The spacers/caps are metal. The others...????

Yes. Caps are magnetic, the actual beads are not.

    Maybe some kind of wood?

Looks like ceramic to me. It can have a metallic glaze.

They looked kind of like glass and kind of not. The glaze on ceramics is essentially glass, so ceramic fits.

    Maybe ceramic to imitate Jasper?

I know this is way old but I finally got the necklace home and in the same room as my UV light. What does it mean that it fluoresces?

Something in the glaze reacts to UV. Ordinary white printer paper looks like this under UV. So do some diamonds. Not sure the effect qualifies as fluorescence, which means a material emits light it has absorbed, as opposed to light it reflects. There's an experiment to do: take the reactive material into a closet or other dark space, shine UV on it for a while, then see if it still glows when the UV is turned off.

Thanks for checking me on the terminology, I may try the experiment!

I should probably stop wondering what it is and think more on how I can re-use and enjoy the beads.
