Mother of pearl last supper

Does anyone have any info on this what i think is mother of pearl background painted last supper.? .not sure what to make of the applied paintwork but thought the whole thing a bit different.

There is an inlay frame maybe its indian.?i dont know.it measures 18 inches by 10 and half inches.

Probably Middle Eastern. The plaque itself is some sort of artificial material.
I see these a lot in Middle Eastern and Egyptian Christian restaurants and shops around here

Many of the links komo provided mention the term "capiz", which was new to me. I don't think it applies to this plaque. As others have noted it is more likely an artificial material. Nevertheless, here is some info on capiz shell -

It looks like the material of table tops in all night diners of a certain age.
