Dear Martin-My Wife really appreciates Art & Antiques but was getting a little tired of the horde of 600-700 items crowding the garage. The first chunk of the pile I sold on Ebay was an 1860's stereoview of Sacramento I bought for 50 cents,it went for $300.
This mysteriously seemed to change my Wife's attitude...it's worth a try.
PS-We look forward to identifying your next 5000 items,it's what we do ! We never get boraged or peed off.:joyful:

Yes, my husband got excited when I made a bit of money with my bits and bobs. As a "pottie" (someone who collects/is interested in pottery and porcelain) I have a modest 2 cabinets filled with my finds and some inherited pieces. But other stuff is in closets and the basement. I don't collect now as I'm at the de-accessioning age. My kids used to roll their eyes when I said, "Oh look! There's an antique store!" Keep showing us your stuff!

I dont have 600-700 items, well i think anyway and im certain alot of it is worthless.im posting here to my eye what i feel might be worth asking about but i realy had little idea that most of it might be that collectable.
Not just because ye have all been so helpfull and kind but I feel i should tell you that all the items ive poster so far cost me to the best of my memory ive paid between 50c and €30 was the highest price paid for the items ive asked ye for advice on.
The art deco porcelain lady here cost me €4.Sorry but im embarrassed now

Obviously i wont be tossing anything that i find is worth a good bit more than i paid for it.i will probably end up giving back to the charity shops that whats not realy collectable.

To answer you question yes i am capable of selling but i am in Ireland so a small market for it here im sure?

Try selling on Ebay,Etsy & local antique stores. We've all pretty much tried one of these techniques.

the reason I said that it is desirable regardless is because of the subject matter - it is clearly female and clearly deco - those are 2 very winning attributes - if the female on your bookend was not a perriot and simply a deco lady it would even be more - and the price would double if it is luster lustre lusterware - and these prices are down from where they use to be - at one time you could look at eBay and there would be at least 100 sold noritake deco ladies sold over the price of $1000....

Jeese .i suppose it depends on what is popular at any given time.

about 10+ years ago - if you look at the new link I am adding and scrutinize you will see what I mean - these noritake FLAT powders used to be listed as compacts - notice that in most cases the ones that are DECO LADYS as opposed to just deco birds etc and opposed to ones that are victorian insprired deco are priced in the 300-500 range - victorian attributes and non lady subjects have always been considerable less than straight out DECO LADY examples - these flat deco lady compacts used to bring 900-1200 - I have sold a handful of them in the past... the key is DECO NON-VICTORIAN LADY - i hope this helps you see the subtle differences in what is desirable and what is really really desirable...

A wonderfull woman she is putting up with me.
yea am realy glad that i came across ye all here.ye have all offered your knowledge so willingly and ye didnt realy have to.i feel i owe ye something.am thinking before i explore the option of selling some of my finds maybe i could give ye the option of aquiring some of the pieces for your own collections.dont know if that might be an option or how we would do it but i certainly wouldent be looking for top dollar and if we could agree a fair price on one or some of my collectable items i would feel better.let me know if thats appealing or if not i dont mind either.Feel better for asking either way.
Thank you all again so much
