I wonder if it is Tibetan. I have been looking at a lot of vessels recently and I could have sworn I saw something like this under Tibetan/Buddhist?

The photo is very small, but it looks like it could be Newari ware from Nepal. The Newari live in the Kathmandu Valley and are known for 'jewel' encrusted ware.

One of the stones on the side almost looks like a scarab. It isn't a scarab, is it? If it is a scarab, it can't be Himalayan.

And the scarab lookalike. Could you tell us if the others look the same and if they are indeed scarabs?

I agree that the decorative technique looks at least inspired by Himalayan (Tibet or Nepal) styles. But it also looks a little new-agey/cobbled together, not a traditional form.

Can you show us how the top/lid opens? Does it look like it might be missing a finial of some sort?

Thank you so very much. I could not find anything in this shape. So, it is a newer decorative piece.
