    Hello

I bought this Japanese wooden box, but i’m not sure what it’s used for. I found one ebay link to a lacquered cylindrical box, described as a cake box but couldn’t find anything else.

It has various scenes carved around the outside, and some script on top.

    10.5cm diameter, 11.5cm height

    Thank you

1920s/30s??? My grandmother, who loved Japanese designs, had wooden coasters that looked the same as the lid. She probably wouldn't have bought them once the shooting started. Similar bits have been used on desks to hold whatsits and whoosies for a good long time. It's a whatsahoosie holder!:D

For transporting food for a meal away from home. Such as a lunch at midday.

Too small for much food if it's only 11cm high. I suppose it would work if you're not a Westerner.
