cloiseaglevs5.jpg cloiseaglevs2.jpg cloiseaglevs1.jpg cloiseaglevs1.jpg Fairly beat-up, probs 19th century Japanese Meiji trying to look like ming chinese cloisonne vase. I think it is an eagle chasing a hare near cliffs and lake with a fisherman (crude) in the water, small pink quarter moon at the top. Just fun details or do they represent something?

It refers to the story of the hare who stole the moon's reflection from the water to woo the fisherman's daughter, and how the cunning hare eluded Shumisami the eagle who was sent by the Kongorikishi, with the help of Ebisu, the god of fishermen who changed the hare into a young man. Which helped a lot with his prospects with the fisherman's daughter.
