The hard-core joolies in here leave me in the dust, and I used to sell it. I"m not much good on European costume. Or cameos, especially compared to a few addicts who post here. That said, post away because sooner or later the right addict will poke her nose in!

Thanks, Cheryl -- I'm hoping I can finish writing this before I lose my wifi connection. It drops off for an hour or two at a time, and I don't like typing on my phone.

The doggie in my avatar belongs to my granddaughter--they both lived with us for a couple of years while she was in college nearby. My son's doggie is a little mixed breed they adopted from a rescue service. He does a prairie dog impression when he needs to go outside.

Your avatar must be your doggie--he/she is exceptionally beautiful!

Ohhh, so cute, both of them! Thanks on Presh, she's a silly designer breed called an 'Alaskan Nanuk' (snow-dogs with exotic coloring), was a brood-bitch until she was six, I got her shortly after her retirement, 4-1/2 years ago. An absolute brat, but sweet, and I adore her...

Then he got a look at the snow and asked for a puppy pad?

Presh, well; we know Presh. She's a Princess Dog who owns her humans. Sure she's not a cat in a dogsuit?

I wasn't aware of that breed--I can see why you adore her. I enjoy my "granddogs" for a week or two at a time, but I'm glad I don't have full-time responsibility for them--kind of the way I felt about my grandkids when they were little.

He actually has to wear a diaper/bellyband full time in the house--he has "issues" probably because he was abused by a previous owner. He does try his best to hold it until he gets outside. He doesn't seem to mind the snow, and we don't have much on the ground yet. A couple of times I've let him out and forgot to take off the bellyband first.

He may even like snow - good for peeing on.

Joan, I understand your critical mind, and it is good to do your own research.
But asking members to list their areas of expertise and years of collecting, selling, and researching various categories of vintage and antique items, or relevant employment, hobbies, skills, degrees, certifications, etc. means expanding the profile page to five, ten, or more pages. Besides, many profile pages are set on 'private', for understandable reasons. I set mine on private because of bullying, for instance.

But rest assured, for most regulars, like Cheryl, their areas of expertise and "credentials" are to be found all over the forum.

That's no good! I hope you feel better soon.
And it is always good to see you posting, both to see you my dear friend, and to benefit from your expertise. Happy New Year!:kiss:

Much better today than yesterday, a lazy day curled up with Presh and Tali-cat was better than any medicine.

Awww, thanks AJ - and same to you! Still doubtful I'll be able to visit much these days, but things should ease up a bit sometime this year - hopefully...

I’m a little late replying—my internet service has been off and on, off and on.

Thank you, @Any Jewelry, I think I understand now that the way I use Antiquers may be different than other people. Before I retired, I wrote grant proposals, private investment prospectuses, and business plans. I had to be skeptical of information that people were providing and do a lot of research from multiple sources of information.

Now that I’m in the process of researching and documenting hundreds of pieces of jewelry I’ve collected over the past 20 years, I’m doing more narrowly-focused research, but I got caught up in this Norwegian buckle thread because I’ve been working on my tray of vintage Scandinavian jewelry.

I know that some members are exceptionally knowledgeable about certain types of jewelry, but I don’t use Antiquers often enough, and don’t remember everything I read to know exactly who all of the experts are, and I really don’t want to read through hundreds of pages of past posts to figure that out. A one-page summary of a member’s areas of expertise and experience would be helpful, but I understand people wanting to keep their profile private.

The expert I do remember who helped me with some Austro-Hungarian and Czech pieces, and a pair of Art Nouveau/Jugendstil cufflinks is you, Any Jewelry. The way you explain things in such detail, it’s obvious that you’re a credible source of information. I also know Bronwen is the cameo expert, but I only have one cameo in my collection and don’t find them anymore. Now I’ll remember that Cheryl is a silver expert.

A little update on the buckle: I tried contacting the seller but she never responded, and it ended up selling for more than the asking price. Not to me. :hilarious:

Thank you all very much for the thoughts and discussion! I'll be on the look out for a similar peice.
