Hi all! Came across this today and had to rescue it. It looks like it's glued to a lamp base, but there isn't a hole in the bottom of the vase. There's also what appears to be old florist sticky clay around the top. I love the vase and think it would be so much better without the base, not to mention I'm really curious about what's on the bottom. The whole thing needs a good cleaning and I'm hoping that a good soak will loosen whatever adhesive is attaching the two pieces together. Any tips or tricks before I do something I'll regret? 20240106_181134.jpg 20240106_181200_resized.jpg

I would have rescued that too! Curious what we find out about the glass.

Wait for others with suggestions about loosening the glue. Hopefully comes off easily.

    Thanks, Komo!

This was sitting on the floor in a corner where it looked like it had been for ages. I couldn't leave it there! Got a good variety of things today, but this one definitely has my interest piqued. :)

I would start with just warm water & some mild dish soap. It may take a few soaks but it won't hurt either piece.

Great! I'll let it soak overnight and see what we come up with in the morning.

She's free of the goop and squeaky clean! There are no marks on the base.

I’m pretty sure it’s Rindskopf, too, I’ve a very similar one.

Think we have a winner! Thanks everyone.

For the curious, the one in the Worthpoint link sold for $225 in July of 2023. Not too shabby for $20.

So glad it worked & you got a positive ID!!:happy:

You also have a nice-looking brass stand to use on something more appropriate. ;):happy:

A short soak in some white vinegar will take care of any discoloration.

Thanks for the vinegar tip, @bercrystal . Love how these everyday household items are still the best things to use.
