Luftschutz Helmet Opinions

I bought this helmet a few years back. My understanding is that Luftschutz helmets are common and less desirable, but I enjoy it. I posted on the War Relics website and was told it looks legit, but wanted some additional opinions if anyone is willing to give it. The neck guard isn't standard and the rim has been painted. It's got the name on it as well (wish I could trace it).

What are everyone's thoughts on restoration or preservation? It does have some rust and I'd like to maintain it at least in its current condition. I appreciate any feedback!

Just leave it as it is. That's the way collectors like it. Anything you do to the helmet will decrease the value. Don't even oil the helmet.

Luftschutz Helmets are the least desirable German Helmets of WW2, but your helmet is top notch and therefore very collectable.

 

Looks to be a totally genuine 3 piece Luftschutz helmet. No doubt about authenticity in my view.
If, I were to do anything to it, it would be to give it a light spray with Pledge furniture polish, this will simply put a thin film of wax and help to inhibit any rusting, without doing any damage to the original finish. Don't polish it, just simply apply a light coating, and then gently dry the wax with a cloth.
Nice helmet. I have only ever had the single piec variant of these.
