Featured Oddities

Fun thread. I don't think I have anything that fits here, but it nice to see what others have found.

 

Clay demon bust, 10" tall and 12" wide, kind of different, but I like it.

 

Two statues, made of metal wire and old sleeves (“moffen”) used for riding bikes during and before World War Two. Made by my mother, who passed away last year.

 

This may not reach the status of some of the oddities posted but this teapot wins the oddness/quirky prize in my teapot collection.

 

Most were already posted, some a long time ago

 

I forgot about this one, my chicken perfume bottle which I asked about here a couple of years ago and she remains unidentified.

A Batak medicine box from Sumatra, with an odd creature on the lid:

 

You have not disappointed me! You all have some pretty odd stuff.

I collect a lot of natural things. In general, it is not all that odd. It is mostly rocks, minerals, shells,and the like.

I do have some bug specimens. These are the oldest of the bunch.


This poor bumblebee has his own little cave hollowed from a rock specimen.

 

I wandered into a store once that had all kinds of huge and exotic bugs mounted in shadow boxes, but I was broke. I figured once I was no longer broke, I would go back and spend a fair chunk, but when it happened, and I did, the store was no longer there.

Those basta...uhm,predators killed my baby rabbits living behind my shed. I get the circle of life thing,but it traumatized me to step onto my patio,hear a squeal,and see the hawk flying off with one of them.The other just vanished as well.

 

Yeah, I hate that but I just keep telling myself "They have to eat too!"

 

Fine ,then go eat that yapping dog the next sreet over ! Do a public service,it never stops ! Not absolutely precious little baby rabbits .
