Today I found this Rimini blu Bitossi jar with lid in the thrift. I sprung for the $12!
I'm very pleased with it. 9"(23cm)

I couldn't believe my eyes! I carried it around the store like a newborn baby .
The color is so vibrant! I tried not to be too excited at the cash register ....

When I find something really great like you did, I hear that old commercial in my head where the lady screams to her husband

start the car, start the car as she runs out of the store.:p

That’s a three figure pot, that is.

Not to mention three hands. Two to hold the pot and a third to push open the door as you hustle it out.

Here it is, innocently sitting on the shelf at the thrift store, waiting for me.
A strange series of events lead me to this particular thrift store that day. And this thrift is directly next to a Goodwill in a strip mall.
I can't believe some dealer didn't find it first.
There was a beige blob of dried something stuck to the bottom edge that washed off later.
It looks like a chip, but isn't.

@stracci - Would you show the bottom & the mark if the is one? I know there have been other pieces of this pottery shown on the forum so I have seen the mark but just to refresh my memory.:happy:

I think I would have picked up this piece even not knowing what it was just because of the color & the design.

Now the question. Is it a keeper or will it be going to another forever home?:smuggrin:

I no longer have a booth at the antique mall.
So everything I find now stays with me! It's a keeper.
The number is 2318, and a sloppy 'Italy'. The other examples I found online have this same number, a design number I guess.

Not all Bitossi is marked. That one is known as the Ztaly mark because it’s what the sloppy I resembles.

I always pick up silk ties for my brother, and silk scarves for my collection. I looked at ties in our department store, Boscovs, and they had no silk ties, and they wanted $25 for polyester ties. The Jerry Garcia ties used to be silk, polyester now.

Happy New Years Eve. I have a story, and not about jewelry. It was a rainy day, and I was leaving an antique mall that has all kinds of junque outside. I spied these getting all rained on, so I took them inside and they said the price was $15. One figurine is broken, but not too badly. I will post them on the glass board and on the antiques general discussion board (have lots of questions.) I fell in love with their beauty, even though one is not perfect. The guy at the counter said the dealer was trying to get the rusted bases off with liquid rust, so it really helped that they were left out in the rain. Duh. They were a pair of lamps- the one with the tambourine and rose is intact.

I think she's supposed to be Rom/Gypsey, though a 30s Deco and "woo hoo" lens.
