I was watching an online sale and seller presented this cross as A-H. The marcasites didn't seem to make sense to me and I just didn't agree. (and several of the marcs are chipped which he did not mention) No maker marks or silver marks.

He said the pink stone was "above tourmaline" on his gem tester range so it may be topaz or sapphire. He said NOT glass. The interesting stamped floral back may be a glue as to origin.

What would you all call it?

This reminds me of the kind of piece @Dessert58 might know about. Others here are knowledgeable too. People are on different time zones, so might take a couple of hours...

    Very pretty piece!

A beautiful cross, Curioser, and I can see why the seller thinks AH, because of that decorated back.
Decorated back aside, I don't recognize it as AH. It is a Renaissance revival style, but not AH imo.
I have never seen marcasites on AH jewellery, and the ajour is a bit too delicate for AH.
Are there any more photos? Where we can see the back of the loop, or inside the bail?

    Beautiful cross!
Sorry, I can't say much more than what AJ already said.
The marcasites indeed are not something I have seen on Austro Hungarian jewelry

I would call it Ruthie-bait, me being the Ruthie. I have a stickpin here with the same hot pink stone I've never identified. The marcasites in this make me think of really old diamonds in things some European posters have scored. (and that made me drool)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It is pretty, @Curioser -- sounds like it was a good idea to pass on it, though.

Thanks! I didn't like the fact that seller did not disclose the damage marcasites. A fanatic cross collector (I mean she buys dozens a week!) paid $90 for it.
