Featured Impressed mark ID?

    This c. 7" x 4" unusual piece of studio pottery has an impressed mark but I have no clue what it says, or which way it orients.

    The piece seems quite nice to me-- lots of control in the shape, design, and weird glaze(s), so I thought it might be something interesting.

    I know very little about pottery, but at first glass it reminds me some of Hull Brown Drip stuff. Let the experts help out.

    Looks like an N with possibly a snake (?) curved around it.
