    Hello all.

Glad I found this site. Lots of interesting information.

Would anyone have some information regarding the age of a certain bottle. I am new to the site and would like to post a few pictures but I am not that computer savvy.

The bottle appears to be a liquor bottle. The bottle is approximately 3½ inches X 3½ inches X 9.0 inches tall to the top of the chestnut painted wooden stopper with cork centre. This is clear, yet dull, glass which appears to have part of the neck hand painted gold with thin lines on all sides of the bottle that may be best described as thin ribbons trailing down the bottle sides. The glass has some small air bubbles and there is a raised glass ridge on two opposing sides fo the bottle. One side of the bottle has raised glass lettering ERVEN LUCAS BOLS. Under that AMSTERDAM. Under that 1575....which I understand was when that distillery started. I've learned that BOLS started a US branch of the distillery in 1947. One side of the bottle has, what appears to be, a painted/stenciled area which displays three (3) men in colonial or mid century clothing with triangular hats. One man dressed in white and the two men on each side of him dressed in blue and one is holding a drum. The paint on the glass feels dull/rough. My parents immigrated from Holland to Canada in 1946. They are now deceased. I have no idea how they came to be in possession of the bottle. I would gladly upload some pictures if someone could walk me through that.

You might want to copy and save this for reference for a while....it helps when you're new!!!

For Future reference, when posting images:

Each image MUST be UNDER 1 MB....
There are instructions on site here on how to reduce the size of your image, if that is the problem......you are allowed up to 10 images per post!!! Here are some links to the instructions:

Try emailing them to yourself as "medium" size, they should then be under 1 MB!

    If on the computer:

That way, we're not clicking on little thumbnails, but get to see all of the images full sized!! Thanks! Remember, it takes a bit for MOST new members to get the hang of it, but it's really quite simple once you get used to it!!!" If you still have questions, DON'T hesitate to ASK!!!!

    Welcome from the Netherlands, Ferguson.
Erven means heirs. So the heirs to the estate and distillery of Lucas Bols.
    Correct.
