Slip-Cast Stalking Lion on Pedestal, Almost Featureless

    The pedestal is ~4" long, ~3/4" wide; weight is ~2 oz. It is unmarked.
    I'm puzzled at the paucity of detail; all you really get is classic apex feline with an open mouth. Is this a symbolic (national, say British?) representation? I probably picked it up partly for the blurred yet evocative frozen motion. What do y'all see here? Thanks for lookin'!

    It looks like whomever cast a cat in that mold last left something inside, then failed to clean out every previous particle of whatever they were using from the mold, thus causing lack of detail in next casting. It's small, and big cats were very popular in the 1940s-50s, so I'd date it to be newer than that. The base doesn't look to have much actual use wear on it, but it could have been stored. Just my humble opinion.

    The look, to me, is of a very viscous glaze that smooths an' obscures most detail, leaving only the leonine attributes.

    that heavy glaze reminds me of cowan pottery figure pieces...
