Takechi Sehio performing monkey

Discussion in 'Art' started by Elizabeth Brushia, Dec 23, 2023.

  1. I have a fairly large collection of Japanese art. This is the only one I can identify, but can’t place a value. It was produced in Unsodo Tokyo, which was destroyed during WWII. It’s believed Sehio was overlooking the project but passed in 42.. I read 100-300 copies were made. Can anyone help with value? I also have many pieces I can’t identify I will post along with Japanese WWII. Newspaper articles, thanks for any help

This is a site for information , & not really for valuations , but there are some who may offer up insight into where values may be obtained.
    Stay tuned....

Unsodo Corporation still exists and is the largest publisher of woodblock prints in Japan. The label itself does not look pre=WWII to me. The Kyoto location has an impressive website. Have you tried contacting them?

  5. I got this information from a museum, but just followed the link and put the title in. It was created between 1900-1910, I will contact them for more information. Thanks so much
