I bought a large mixed lot at auction today as it included some ceramics that I wanted. I’ve just sorted it out and have a pile for the charity shop but there are two pieces that I think I may sell.

Unfortunately my knowledge of glass is very limited so I wonder if any experts could advise me if these should go in the charity box or not.

The first is a small round bottle with a cut glass stopper. The bottle is finely moulded with a pattern with much of it picked out in gilt. Both stopper and bottle have a small scratched number 136 .

Any thoughts on origin and purpose ?

The second is a small single bud vase with a frilled rim which looks to be hand blown . Again any thoughts?

The pieces are 18cm (bottle) and 13.5cm (bud vase) tall.

The beauty of the wee bottle for me is the background work...the spider-web that serves to provide light texture while gracefully obscuring the contents an' highlighting the gold design. I like it, a lot!

Sorry, Brit humour. Wee, as in, well wee. And there’s an expression which is taking the p1ss, as in, well, wee.

    oh dear!

the bottle is cameo glass - acid cut back - I would have thought Baccarat but St Louis makes sense as well...

I saw this today when scanning my saved searches & immediately remembered this posting.:happy:

I think it is a match to your bottle & that is Marcel Franck hardware on the bottle. I do think it might be a couple of years later than is estimated by the seller according to my reference book which shows this style as 1910 but that is pretty close when you take into account some other eBay listings. ;):p:rolleyes::hilarious:

Mine is going for sale on 10 January at 99p start price and ten day auction . I reckon about £70 will be the final price.

I actually was referring to the listing as I thought their price was a little out of the realm of reality BWDIK. ;):happy::happy:

Good luck with your listing & I think your estimates are likely much closer to reality.
