I am so absurdly excited by this one. Debora, huge thanks: that is just the coolest thing. Some of my ancestry is East Anglia, so you never know...

I do now wonder if this started as a pendant with the pin and clasp being added when the inscription was done. The gold carat looks slightly different, and the whole thing is heavy. If it was, it was very well done.

I don't know if it's Dad and Mam, not sure that was an 1860s usage, but maybe Pa/papa and Mama?

These are the other things she sold me. The dolphins are more recent, destined for my godddaughter. Oddly enough, the seller was at my other car boot this morning, and had more jewellery, but it was nowhere near as interesting. And more expensive too.

That Scottish brooch is absolutely divine. I hope you wear it! Post prong check, anyway. I also love the Pearl bar brooch. Delicate but well balanced.

A few prong issues, but nothing that can't be solved. But I bet obb has a hoard of Scottish pebble jewellery to choose from, also with perfect prongs.;)
    I have my mother's set.

I don't think I have photos of them, but I'll have to take some anyway. When I do, I will post them.:)

Oh, wasn’t I just. I’d have paid more, believe me. How on earth she missed its value is beyond me.

She knows the Old but not the Older Than Dirt? Happens. I scored a 21k bangle a few weeks ago because they didn't recognize the mark as gold!

I think maybe the bling mislead her, she thought it was costume.

And I do indeed have a hoard of hardstone including a bracelet which needs fixing, if I can only find someone who knows how to solder Victorian silver.

We need some Victorian jewelers, who knew their stuff. These days most are just retailers and can barely replace a jump ring.

Around me I've got quite a few non-corporate who do custom work, but of course they're used to more modern methods. Which may not be a bad thing, but certain items I don't take for repair because I know these artists don't work with similar (cameos, enamels, foil etc). Seems like you need a restoration jeweler and idk who you'd have to look for.
