Joolies and engineers - it's hard-wired. Glassies too, I'd bet.

I agree totally,I think really talented 'Joolies' & 'Glassies' are in a similar league as scientists & engineers. There's a certain recognition/categorization/retrieval brain mechanism that's there that not all humans have.
Some folks here do it with ethic collectibles-they nail the area,country,county,town,sub-set,it's quite remarkable. It's like watching Benedict Cumberbatch do his Sherlock act.

Using what you know to fill in what you don't, and sometimes the info has been squirreled in the back of your brain for 20 years.

Haa comes down to practice and study I imagine. You really like something, you put a lot of hours in looking at it and reading about it, and your brain categorizes it as something not to be dumped!

His Sherlock was terrible at banal things that weren't interesting to him. I imagine that's all of us! :p

It's like that with Art. Everyone thinks it's a talent, but it's a skill literally anyone can have...you just just have to really enjoy spending a LOT of time with it. :dead:

Hah,R. Mutt ! I just saw a fine 1955 interview w/ Marcel Duchamp a few days ago (YouTube). His 2 brothers were also exceptional, not as 'conceptual' as Marcel.
I think their father supported all 3 boys when young to pursue art careers-who the hells got dads like that ?

Hm. My career was techie sales, with a good science background. I’ve always loved research and digging and learning and devising solutions and fixing problems. I see the world as a series of multi dimensional layers and networks, all linking at an infinite number of junctions.

    if that makes sense.

I was diagnosed as having autism a few years ago.
It helps me noticing tiny details 'normies' overlook.
Also helps me focus on things that matter. At least to me.
    Like the shiny stuff :D
For a jewel-loving girl a handicap like that can be a real superpower. :cat:

Yours sounds like a bonus rather than a defect...!:hungry:;):happy:

Or , maybe it's the way you've chosen to deal with it, in a positive way !!!!!

    Good fer U !!

I've never officially been diagnosed, but there's zero doubt I'm on the Spectrum too. It makes sense of my 'skewed" sense of humor and attention to details.

Lots of "normals" (neuro-typicals to use the jargon) say "how the heck does she do that" and said the same of my engineer geek father. It's all in the bloody details.

As some here know, I’m a science fiction nerd and a geek about things like the London Underground. SF fandom is almost entirely neuro divergent. And refers to non fans as mundanes. ;)

That usage goes back 30 years that I'm sure of, because that's when I first ran into it.

You both seem outgoing facile communicators,so where one is 'on the spectrum' can mean more/less re level of communication skills ?
Or maybe some 'neuro divergent' are superb writers, but in 'one on one' or live crowd social intercourse-perhaps not so much.
I realize there's probably 8.1 billion clicks on the scale-so generalization is just that-gross generalization !
PS-Speaking of science fiction & the London Underground,I enjoyed Neil Gaiman's 'Neverwhere'(London Below #1)- actually there's plenty of fantasy in that one.

    Bosko,
    Its a big spectrum.
You wouldn't notice anything on me unless you live with me or know me very well.
I m all chaos and I spread chaos everywhere I go, says my hubby:hilarious:
    I m bad at reading people I don't know and I m notorious for taking things literally:hilarious:
I m good with close friends and up to 6-8 people I somewhat know.
More than that/unknown people/loud noise gives me anxiety if I don't prepare. So you won't find me at big parties or mass events. Which is a good thing
These are just some random facts.
It does have a big impact on my life, but I m good at camouflaging.
But as I said, its a spectrum. Its different for everyone.
