This is a recent acquisition of mine. My first piece of Rookwood Faience. From what I can tell this tile is from the 1880's and seems to be fairly scarce. Would it have been from around a fireplace or another architectural feature in a stately home? Not sure if this is architectural salvage or was never used. It is an incredibly attractive piece in my opinion and is also very thick and heavy.

Anyone else have any thoughts? Not finding a many comparables out there on the web.

    Sincerely,
    Joe

No evidence of mortar so not salvage. Nice one. I have some tile books, will have a look in AM
