I picked this up the other day, I thought it was nicely done and was only $5.00 USD
so not a great loss. It is 8" x 10" and signed Jensen with a possible date after?
Any and all thoughts greatly appreciated.

An amateur work, I'd think, but a very pleasing one.

Agree on amateur status. Ilike the execution of the trees and water better than the foreground.

Yes, the trees are more effective.

Definitely a hobbyist. It has pleasing colors and nice texture.

General rule: Canvas panels are usually naïve, hobby, student, etc. painters because they are a lot cheaper and easier to store than stretched canvas. It's not as nice to work on, but it gets the job done when you're learning and not yet selling in galleries.

Again, not always the case --I just bought a plein air sketch from a local artist that was on canvas board for ease of travel and quick work-- but it's a good place to start when evaluating.

I think "63" maybe...they used diamond glazier points instead of framers points, and I usually see that on earlier works, but obviously they still make them so it doesn't rule anything out.
