Plaster & bronze art figure sculptures

Hi folks

found these 3 in a charity shop today. went to pay for the full figure one, and was told there were 2 more, so i got the 3 for a tenner.

probably impossible to find an artist, but any info on them would be great

2 are i think are plaster?, one is a bronze of one of the plaster molds?

not sure of age

any info or comments appreciated

quite large about 14 inches

But bronze in colour only? Like painted plaster?

 

Does it appear to be identical to this?

no mate solid bronze

 

similar type deb, but mine is a more a fuller figure, much bigger hips

 

Ok. Cool. Looked like white chips on the base to me.

 

Love those Charlie ! Especially the bronze.

 

The full figure one would have been really cool as a bronze.

 

Does the 'bronze' one have felt on the bottom?? IF SO, could always remove to see........Is the weight different from the plaster one??

 

hi aqui, no, no felt bottom, its a ton heavier yeah, and defo bronze/metal

the plaster ones are both carved, i think the molds to make the bronzes

Maybe throw-aways for the final Torso of a young woman, c.1930. I like the first one.

 

think i prefer the plaster ones as you can see the workmanship
she looks quite beautiful here lit by lava lamp light

Love the torso study,perhaps a touch clunky on the hands and face.Very interesting grouping.

 

I remember doing plaster carving in college. It's incredibly fun. Plaster is a very easy medium to work with...if a little messy.

This may be a student piece as the professionals I know of use clay and lost wax method for their sculptures. They're nicely done regardless.
